Palazzo Blu

Palazzo Blu art and culture in Pisa

Palazzo Giuli Rosselmini Gualandi, known as Palazzo Blu, is an historical building of the city of Pisa, centre of temporary exhibitions and cultural activities. Located on the southern side of the Lungarno (along river Arno) in the heart of the historic centre of the city, within a short walking distance from Ponte di Mezzo and Palazzo Gambacorti (today seat of the Town Hall). After restoration works, the ancient noble mansion has become part of the wider tourist development project of the museum circuit overlooking Lungarno, the arterial road of great historical and cultural value that crosses the city of Pisa from east to west. The reference to blue is due to a late eighteenth-century blueish fragment found during the restoration works of the façade.

A museum with permanent collections and temporary exhibitions

Palazzo Blu houses a museum where to admire countless masterpieces belonging to the Cassa di Risparmio di Pisa Foundation and many temporary exhibitions. The permanent exhibition was conceived to underline the link between the works, Pisa and its territory. The exhibition section dedicated to archaeology and medieval history is profoundly fascinating.

If staying in the city as guests at Grand Hotel Duomo of Pisa, we invite you to plan a visit to Palazzo Blu during your tour. Palazzo Blu also hosts a large and modern auditorium for events, performances, and concerts.
